Evidence Based Practice
Theorem: Alcohol dehydrates people.
It is difficult to
start IV s on dehydrated people.
Case Study:
The night before a hands-on clinical,
the entire class felt it would be a good idea to go out and 'party'.
The entire class arrived, sleep deprived and slightly hung-over, to
find that clinical was being held in the multi-purpose room of the
hospital school.
The lesson – How to start an IV.
The practice dummies – each other.
Results: Theorem proved.
Lessons learned.
